It is the home for graves of early Texas pioneers, one Revolutionary War veteran, veterans of the Civil War, some Indians, and several black slaves. Originally known as Sands Cemetery, the original five-acre parcel was once the site of 200 grave markers, now it only has two markers on about one-half acre of land. A deed from North Lake Woodlands developers and a historical marker now protect the cemetery.

The Center includes a meeting facility with a capacity of 200 people, a library, a conference room, and a computer laboratory. The facilities have been used by a variety of organizations for periodic meetings as well as a venue for instructional courses in computer, English, arts, dance, martial arts, and table tennis. Also available to the general public is a library of Chinese literature, magazines and newspapers. The facilities are available to the general public for a nominal fee. The Richardson Community Brass Band

The Richardson Community Brass Band was formed about 1915 or 1916.  This organization became an important part of the community's social life.  If a member missed a practice and just wanted to play a little while, he would always go over to the barbershop.  Newt Harris, the town barber, loved music and was instrumental in organizing the band.  There was a bandstand in the vicinity of East Main and McKinney which attracted folks from all around.

Since 1984, The Samaritan Inn, a non-profit organization, has helped thousands of homeless people in Collin County regain their independence with comprehensive programs and the help of caring individuals and corporations. The Samaritan Inn was established in 1984 after community leaders joined together to address the issue of homelessness in Collin County. Twenty five years later, The Samaritan Inn is still the only homeless shelter in a county of over 762,000 residents.
